County Attorney

Reporting directly to and responsible to the Board of Supervisors, the County Attorney performs complex legal work including civil litigation, review and preparation of legal documents including ordinances, and legal opinions; advises boards, commissions and staff on legal issues. Position will remain open until filled.

Director of Community Development

Under the direction of the County Administrator, the Director of Community Development is responsible for land use and planning policies for the County of Louisa as established by the Louisa County Board of Supervisors. The Director of Community Development is responsible for zoning, subdivision, and site plan administration. The position also serves as Department Head for County Community Development activities, including planning, zoning, and building/code inspections. Position will remain open until filled.

County Engineer

Under the direction of the County Administrator, the County Engineer oversees professional engineering activities to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, codes, ordinances, policies, and best management practices for the following Public Works activities: Construction & Renovation of County facilities; Landfill Planning & Management; and Capital Improvement Projects. Position will remain open until filled.

Building Inspector

Visually inspects commercial and residential buildings to determine compliance with the applicable edition of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. Must be able to read and/or review commercial and/or residential construction plans for code compliance. Assists the Division of Planning and Zoning possible zoning and/or erosion and sediment control infractions. Issue reports as necessary. Effectively deal with the public, contractors and/or design professionals as needed. Position will remain open until filled.

Medic/Firefighter, Department of Emergency Services
(Both Full-time and Part-time)

Louisa County will be implementing a 24 hour shift using a 56 hour work week for medic firefighters. Applications will be accepted continuously for both Full-time and Part-time medic/firefighters. These positions are primarily responsible for providing emergency medical services to the ill and injured with a secondary role as a firefighter. Certification in EVOC or equivalent and Virginia EMT-Cardiac, Intermediate or Paramedic is required. Firefighter I is required within the first year of employment.
