COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Planning and Zoning Louisa County is changing - but will the changes be the ones county residents want and need? The job of the Planning Division is to help make sure the answer is yes. We help create and maintain the County's Comprehensive Plan and associated long range policies. We also review and approve subdivisions, site plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and variance applications in compliance with the County's Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances. In addition, we provide GIS mapping support for the department and other County agencies. Code enforcement activities include zoning setbacks; erosion & sediment measures; litter, debris, and other code complaints; and biosolid activities. More about Planning and Zoning here.
Building Inspections The Building Inspection Division wants you to build right - that means meeting the latest safety standards! We follow Virginia's Uniform State Building Code, which sets standards for the construction and installation of all buildings, structures and related equipment. More about Building in Louisa here.
Code Enforcement/ Erosion & Sediment Control Once your property is developed, it's the job of Code Enforcement staff to make sure you have followed the Zoning and Subdivision ordinances and other regulations of the County code. And that's not all they do. Staff measure zoning setbacks; conduct erosion and sediment inspections; respond to complaints about litter/debris; enforce the Inoperable Vehicle Ordinance; and address other code complaints.
