The County of Louisa set standards for subdivisions of land to ensure that the people who buy the land can develop and use it. A subdivision is defined as a division of a piece of land into two or more lots, unless it is a family subdivision or a division of a parent parcel. The Subdivision Ordinance helps the County meet these standards, as do the applications and forms you can link to on this page.

Land Use Amendments
If you want to change the zoning for a property, or you need a conditional use permit, or you want to request a variance or special exception from the zoning, you will need to apply for a land use amendment. The forms below will help you begin this process. But, before you apply, note that a pre-application meeting with Community Devlopment staff is required.
|
Site Plans
If you are building, developing, or changing the use of your land, you need to submit a Site Plan to the Community Development Department. The only exceptions are for building single family homes, accessory structures, agricultural activity, or a change of use that does not require additional parking or additional means of entering or exiting the property.

Zoning Permits
A zoning permit is required for various activities in the County, including, but not limited to building a single family house; erecting a sign; running a business from your home; and building a seawall or a dock on Lake Anna. This link will take you to applications and forms for all zoning permits.
