Wastewater
Louisa County and the Town of Louisa jointly own the Louisa Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. Louisa County Water Authority is the contract operator. Louisa Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant has a total maximum capacity of 400,000 gpd with plans to expand the facility to 800,000 gpd. The Town of Mineral uses the facility as a customer of the County. The Zion Crossroads Wastewater Treatment Plant has a total maximum capacity of 100,000 gpd with plans to expand to 700,000 gpd. Public Utilities are concentrated in designated growth areas while all other areas have septic systems.
Solid Waste Disposal
The Louisa County Waste Management Facility collects refuse and recycling from sites throughout the county and operates the Louisa County Sanitary Landfill for solid waste disposal.
