Habitat for Humanity nailing down coming year

Habitat for Humanity (HFH) homes are not given to just anyone. Prospective families must invest sweat equity by working to help build their own home. They must qualify with income, be able to meet the monthly mortgage payments and not be burdened with too many other debts

Terry and Bonnie Osborne and their three children have met these requirements and HFH land has been cleared for their home. It is the sixth home built in Louisa County, on Horseshoe Farm Road, Route 714, about 3/4 mile off Courthouse Road, Route 208. The lot was donated by Dickie Purcell.

Volunteers are needed for construction, fundraising, clerical work and also to serve on the steering committee. Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to attend the next meeting of the steering committee at 6 p.m. on Mon. Feb. 8, at Roma's Restaurant in Louisa.

The steering committee is chaired by Paige Kemp, Jeff Martin is the construction manager, and Sherri Brown is the Habitat director for the county. For more information, contact Brown at (540) 967-9727, or e-mail brownsb@verizon.net.
